If you are looking for something completely different other than a steel windmill tower, NZ Stirrers can custom design a tower made from timber. Our timber of choice would be macrocarpa, as this is easily sourced and cut to the sizes we would require. But let us know if you had another timber preference you would like us to use.
Timber towers range from 6.0m up to 9.6m in height with a hub/blade configuration starting from 1.80m in diameter up to 4.80m, painted in pioneer red. Other options are galvanised steel or made from stainless steel.
The timber tower can be stained in various oil-based colours or oiled with teak or linseed oil to give that natural timber finish.
As with all our windmill builds, NZ Stirrers can offer you a complete build, delivery, and installation across New Zealand.

Here are some important things we need to know about your water requirement so we can design the perfect windmill to meet your needs.
- How much water are you requiring each day or each week?
- What are you needing this water for?
- Are you drawing water from a dam or spring?
- Or are your drawing water from a “Bore” if so, I will need a copy of your Bore Log emailed to me.
- How far are you needing to pump your water in a straight line?
- What is the total lift or height you need to pump your water to?
- Whereabouts are you planning to draw your water from and what is the lift from this water to where the windmill will be sited? There is a 5.0m limit to what a windmill can draw from to pump this amount of water.
- What is your local average yearly wind speed?
- What is your location?
- What size Windmill did you have in mind?
- Can you send me some pictures of your pond/Dam area?
Special Note: Every client will have different water requirements along with different Environmental surroundings, like (distances, hills, and wind conditions). Volumes will vary with these different and uncontrolled conditions. Keeping in mind if there isn’t any wind, there is no water pumping. The higher you need to push your water the less volume you will be able to pump.
Please note: These Timber Towers are for options to consider only.
