The World’s first Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer attachment

One of our Hazardous Liquid Chemical Mixing Heads delivered to our Australian client in Brisbane.

Technology Overview
NZ Stirrers has applied our advanced soil mixing technology and custom designed a new industrial Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer. This mixing system uses liquid cement grout, which is applied and mixed directly to the liquid chemical waste product. This allows for full encapsulation or solidification of the final mixed product ready for environmentally safe deposition in a landfill.

Industrial Hazardous Waste
Hazardous liquid chemical waste is a growing problem in the world, both in the rising quantities of Hazardous Chemical Waste being produced and the increasing difficulties of safe disposal. Hazardous liquid chemical waste disposal is the process in which waste is collected, then solidified/encapsulated into a solid form, to inhibit or eliminate the leaching of toxic waste into the landfill environment. To “encapsulate” liquid waste, means to transform it from a liquid form into a solid form, through cement encapsulation treatment, (solidification/encapsulation). The finished product ensures that the hazardous waste is effectively neutralised and kept from being able to degrade and enter the environment. The purpose of safe End Disposal is to prevent harm to humans and the Environment.

Most hazardous waste cannot be reclaimed or re-purposed. It is often neutralised through Binders like… Cement, Bentonite, Activated Carbon, Lime, Fly Ash etc. and then stored through burial, or isolated in containers. This ensures that, as it degrades, the hazardous material will not enter the environment at a later stage.

The hazardous waste industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. Company investment in new technology for effective encapsulation of this waste stream is essential.

Custom-designed for Efficiency
NZ Stirrers “Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixing Head” has been developed under controlled conditions using CAD modelling and innovative engineering techniques to increase mixing efficiency. The Mixing Head is designed to stir large volumes of liquid Chemical waste at low RPM while simultaneously mixing liquid cement grout, efficiently and consistently within your treatment pit. A further benefit is the elimination of pockets of unmixed waste product in the mixing pit. Every mixer head is custom designed and built to suit the client’s current treatment pit/s design, for example; the shaft length and drive motor, to suit the customers excavators’ specifications.

Made for the Job
Utilising our new mixing head technology, can potentially save you tens of thousands of dollars each month in unwanted downtime and equipment damage. Examples of this are; 1) undue wear and corrosion to the excavator boom from submerging it into the hazardous chemical waste 2) using the excavator bucket to mix dry cement powder into the hazardous chemical waste, damages the Ram seals, the hydraulic Ram, and the hydraulic hoses. These are all common occurrences from constant submerging of the excavator into this type of waste stream.

Our bearings and seals have been carefully protected to avoid contact with any hazardous material. This reduces maintenance and machinery down-time by 100% and increases the lifespan of your plant and equipment. The most important benefit for the operator, is that production output is increased, resulting in improved productivity.

Precision Mixing – Documented and Cost-effective
NZ Stirrers Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixing System (Pod System) ensures that a precise, predetermined quantity of liquid cement grout or similar binder material is delivered evenly at a consistent flow rate. This contrasts with the current process, where an approximated amount of binding material is simply, ‘dumped in.’ Our system will avoid over- application and waste, compared to the traditional Dry Powder Binder dumping method.

Using liquid cement grout will streamline operating costs by accurately delivering the right amount of grout every time. Every batch will be documented including date, time, batch number, client details, product being treated, amount of product being treated, operator/s and most importantly, total flow rate for that batch, enabling accurate documentation of each treatment for reporting and audit purposes.

A Safer Workplace
Dry Powder Binders are now considered to be outdated technology and are being phased out around the globe due to the dangers of inhaling cement (silica dust) directly into the lungs.

Using liquid cement grout will now create a safer working environment for all plant operators including the neighbouring factories. The controlled delivery of liquid cement grout directly to the mixing treatment pit will now eliminate the problem of dry cement dust drift. Staff and adjacent buildings and their occupants will no longer be exposed to contaminants like silica dust and other particulates.

Our high-volume mixing head, mixes material at low RPM, which reduces the risk of human contact of toxic material through splashing from over spinning of the mixing head.

It’s time to improve your workplace safety now. You can’t afford not to!!

NZ Stirrers has developed a world first Industrial “Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer” that is fitted to the end of an excavator.

Technical Notes for the Operator
This mixing head is uniquely designed to mix “Liquid Cement Binders” into the hazardous liquid chemical waste, which turns the liquid waste into a solid form for landfill disposal. The high flow mixing head with low RPM draws in the liquid chemical waste from the sides and bottom moving it in a circular motion around the holding pit, whilst mixing in the Liquid Cement Binder/s consistently, so there aren’t any pockets of unmixed chemical or unmixed cement binder.

Each Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer is innovatively designed to ensure “No” Bearings or Seals meet any hazardous liquid chemical waste. This unique design means that there is no need to replace expensive Seals and Bearings that can fail without warning, due to continued contact with various chemicals such as, solvents and acids. It has been specifically designed to work with Grout Pumps, which deliver the Binder directly to the treatment pit. Each customized Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer is hand made to the highest standards and fabricated from High-Grade hardened steel.

NZ Stirrers range of Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixers can be fitted to excavators ranging from 5 ton up to 20 ton. Each NZ Stirrers “Industrial” Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer is customized to meet each client’s treatment pit, such as the depth of the treatment pit, size of the excavator being used. NZ Stirrers uniquely designed Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer means there are no bearings or seals that meet the liquid chemical waste, preventing damage and costly downtime for repairs. The curved safety shield protects against splash backs to the end of the boom preventing damage to the excavators Ram, Seals, and hydraulic hoses. NZ Stirrers will custom design and build your Hazardous Liquid Chemical Waste Mixer to suit your exact requirements.
